Rose Chinese Restaurant Anglesea

Rose Chinese Restaurant Anglesea

For those familiar with Rose Chinese Restaurant in Anglesea you may know that owner and restaurateur Rose Huang has moved from the location of the restaurant at the eastern end of the main shopping centre in Anglesea to 3/103 Great Ocean Road Anglesea. The new centre is in a very picturesque position overlooking the river opposite the paddleboats.

In the new restaurant Rose has continued the tradition of serving the traditional Cantonese and Malaysian style dishes, which she perfected when inspired by her mother before she moved to Australia twenty-five years ago. She has a daughter Ruby who is now nineteen and occasionally helps Rose by serving in the restaurant.

Rose is a fully qualified chef and has been active in the restaurant business from when she first arrived in Australia from southern China. She worked hard managing restaurants to improve both in developing her unique style of cooking and also to improve her English, which has made her a very excellent chef and a wonderful hostess in both her restaurants in Anglesea.

Apart from the excellent food served in the restaurant both for sit down and popular take away meals Rose has unique qualities as a person, which makes her very popular with customers. She never forgets a name and she can tell you about early customers from the nineteen years in Anglesea. She remembers their names, which is most impressive for all concerned, and she without fail can recollect a customer's favourite meal or what they have been served over the years. This is a most welcoming feature of the restaurant plus her friendly and welcoming smile when one dines at the restaurant.

The new restaurant has a wonderful ambience. When one walks in you cannot but be impressed by the homely smells from the nearby kitchen. All the food is cooked and prepared on location and Rose spends all her spare time at the restaurant preparing her specialties of spring rolls, dim sims, san choy bau, various rice, chicken and beef dishes and many others all hand made by Rose in the clean and modern kitchen. One can observe the preparation from the rather large open area between the dining section and cooking area of the restaurant.

The walls are adorned with typical Chinese artifacts and decorations. For instance the main wall is beautifully painted in the traditional bright red with black trimmings and is a feature plus a beautiful original painting of a rose with an attractive yellow flavour adorns the wall. Other hangings in the room give a very traditional Chinese flavour, as are the beautiful aromas of the cooking of the curries and satays and the steamed fish and vegetables.

Rose aspires to create a warm and inviting atmosphere at this new place. The beautiful food and the warm and inviting atmosphere created by Rose and her staff make for a very pleasant experience for both dinner and lunch six days a week. On the seventh day a Tuesday Rose doesn't rest, she visits Melbourne and the markets to shop for the best qualities of food and ingredients for the very popular items on her extensive menu.

Rose Chinese Restaurant is very well known and popular all along the Surf Coast. She has regular customers even weekly from Moriac, Portarlington, Leopold, Geelong, Lorne, Queenscliff, Winchelsea and other popular towns in the vicinity.

Rose has three main ingredients for a successful restaurant. The beautiful food with a wide variety of dishes is important. The beautiful new restaurant is warm and hospitable and a very popular feature is Rose's own personality which is very important to the success of the business. She explains this very well in her own words "I always like to make the customer happy. It's very important. I really try hard to talk to people and make sure they enjoyed their dinner and had a good experience". Those who dine at Rose Chinese Restaurant regularly can certainly agree with Rose's above statement.

Besides the six days a week take away and pleasant dining experience Rose has a special lunchtime menu, which is displayed on the outside wall of the restaurant. This is proving most successful especially for those wanting a relative quick and less expensive meal in the middle of the day. The restaurant is fully licensed and specialises in local wines from many areas of the Surf Coast and Bellarine Peninsula.
